Someone Might Be Selling Your Stuff

Wow. I never thought I would be posting a journal in the middle of summer vacation when I did state I wouldn't spend too much time in DeviantArt during this period, BUT something has come up that bothered me to the core.

There are most likely more stores selling content that you might be familiar with. These links are the ones that were provided by several other journals talking about this issue as well. Perhaps this has been going on for quite some time, but I honestly just heard about it now and it bothered me so much when I saw that there are people abusing assets that I'm well familiar with. You'll even see them selling game-rips and model types you probably know such as Tda models/parts there. NOT COOL.

This is not fair for the original content creators. It's unfair that there are other people who are making money out of content that many users made here for free for you guys to use. Apparently, they're selling them for in-game currency which works the same as DA points do, but it's still bad because they're redistributing without credit or consent. This is why you might be seeing some users taking down their downloads, and I don't blame them because I would do that too if that happened to me.

Making 3D objects/models from scratch is HARD. I gave it a try and it takes so much time and practice just to perfect them. Heck, even just making the textures from scratch can be difficult too. Alas, there are people who don't care and would rather take whatever they can get not caring about possible consequences. It's such a shame to remember that when there are good people, there are always bad people out there too.

I found out about this after my friend Tameyri found out that her horns were being sold for $100 there:

I'm just here to say, be careful and to warn you that your original works might be sold too. Be vigilant. Also, please don't do what these people are doing. It's not right to claim, redistribute, and sell stuff that isn't yours. Content creators worked hard for the things that you were able to use and it would be fair to respect their works AND rules.

In one of the provided journals, they talk about making a DMCA report if you see your original content in there (NOTE: only fax and physical mail can be sent to Linden Labs to remove content that infringes on copyright). I, myself, am unaware of how this DMCA report works, so I may not be a good help when it comes to that. If you have questions about that, you can research about it or ask about it in the first linked journal included in this one.

Now, I honestly kinda don't want this issue to just spread around like an insane virus that does nothing but cause panic and paranoia, but at the same time I want users to be aware that this is an actual problem and that if you had a chance to do the same as those users in SecondLife, don't do it. Don't follow these people's footsteps because you can get in trouble for that.

Got any characters you want to turn into MMD (MikuMikuDance) models? You can ask me! Or in other words, make a request for me to make one for you. There is no need to pay me for these requests because they're completely free!

Before you make a request, here is a brief summary of what MMD/MikuMikuDance is.
MikuMikuDance, commonly abbreviated to MMD, is a freeware animation program that lets users animate and create 3D animated movies, originally produced for the Vocaloid character Hatsune Miku.[1][2] The MikuMikuDance program itself was programmed by Yu Higuchi (HiguchiM) and has gone through significant upgrades since its creation. Its production was made as part of the VOCALOID Promotion Video Project (VPVP).

Here is an important thing to take note if you plan to make a request: First of all, if it says "REQUEST ARE CLOSED" here, then it's closed. I won't take any requests.

If you are waiting to make a request and they're currently closed, check this journal for updates when requests are open and then ask me about it~! (〃＾▽＾〃)  NOTE: I suggest not waiting for me to take requests because I'm not always able to use MMD (such as right now). There are still many other users who are more talented and can take requests as well.

Anyway, I'm going to leave some, let's say "rules and guidelines", on what you may request (and what I'll accept and decline).

Bullet; Orange Send me a note! This can help notify me if you want to make a request. You can also leave a comment anywhere on my account as well.
Bullet; Orange I... Tend to take time. It might take days before I actually send you the finished product because I either got busy or got distracted. I might not even see your request right away.
Bullet; Orange I will only make 1 model per request. This means someone can ask me to make only one model per request. This is because editing models can be time-consuming and since this is a mere activity to pass the time for me, I prefer to not invest myself too much into this.

Bullet; Green I currently only take Tda model requests. This means if someone was to make a request for me to make a model for them, they are going to be Tda-styled. This is because there are so many Tda resources that I can easily access compared to other model types (and they also tend to look quite nice too). Maybe soon I'll expand on the model types someday...
Bullet; Green I currently only take female model requests. This is pretty much self-explanatory. I'm not saying I dislike male models or the gender itself, it's just that there are more feminine resources compared to masculine ones. I can probably make male cross-dressing models, but I can't do masculine characters because of how little the resources are... Oh, and maybe some male characters that aren't very masculine are okay for me to put together too. If I could succeed in putting together more than 5 male MMD models, I'll remove this rule.
Bullet; Green I prefer that you send me a reference picture of the character you requested. Doing that makes it easier for me to make your model. In fact, sending me the download links for the parts you want me to use is even better and I would highly appreciate that! (Note: This is only my preference and is optional to do.)
 
Bullet; Red The models shouldn't be used for commercial purposes. This means you should not use the models you requested from me to earn money or any form of currency.
Bullet; Red The models shouldn't be used for r-18 works/fetish works and port outside of MMD. This is because it's a rule for Tda models by Tda themselves. You shouldn't port them outside of MMD either. Once I start expanding on the types of models I'll use, they probably won't have this rule.
Bullet; Red I won't use parts that are game rips (except for certain few games, e.g TechArts3D). This is because it's a rule for Tda models by Tda themselves as well to not put uneditable parts on Tda models. This is my way to just stay safe and for these models to not be considered as "illegal". So if you send me a link to parts that are game rips, I would either find a close enough alternative, ask for a different design, or decline the request altogether.

* Animals are like, one of the greatest things/creatures that I am able to live with. It's really sad how some other people treat them though...
